SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. – Carl O. Oase, 87, passed away Monday Aug. 3, 2009, comforted by his devoted wife, Madeline and family, at Glastonbury Health Care Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Sanborn, N.D., son of the late Hans and Anna (Carlson) Oase. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II, retiring after 22 years of proud service. He lived in Enfield, Conn., and later South Windsor, Conn. He retired as an air traffic controller from Federal Aviation, Bradley Airport. Carl was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Orono, and Shriners-Melha Temple, Springfield, Mass. Carl was an avid bridge player and a member of Hartford Bridge Club. Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Madeline F. (Prouty) Oase of South Windsor, Conn.; his daughters, Melissa DeFeo and her husband, John, of Berlin, Conn., and Bonnie Bacharach and her husband, Harold, of Maine; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Hafenstein; a special nephew, Norman Wallace of El Paso, Texas; and his special friends, Ida and Jim Foraker. Carl was predeceased by two grandchildren, Minnie Lee Ashworth and Jon Q. Adams. Carl’s family thanks the staff of Glastonbury Health Care Center for the wonderful care he received, with special thanks to Jackie and Mary Ellen. There are no calling hours or services locally. A private graveside service will be held at Veazie Cemetery, Veazie.
