HAMPDEN – Evelyn Pearl Bureau, 79, passed away Aug. 31, 2009, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. Evelyn was born June 30, 1930, in Benton, the daughter of Edna (Berno) and Arthur Clifford. Evelyn was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1948. She worked for many years in housekeeping at the Best Western White House Inn until her retirement in 2001. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Donna Bryant and husband, Wendell, of Cutler; daughter-in-law, Mary Bureau of Bangor; grandchildren, Jody Dennison and husband, Travis, of Cutler, Amy Cray and husband, Todd, of Hampden, William Bureau of Bangor, Nicole Carruthers and husband, Joshua, of Biddeford, and Jessica Bureau of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Connor and Brett Dennison, Meghan and Dylan Cray, and Destiny and Libby Bureau; a brother, Lawrence Clifford of Fairfield; sister, Claire Smart of Unity; and by her faithful canine companion, Bailey. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, James Antonio Bureau, in 1994; by her son, Brian Bureau, in 2003; her brother, Kenneth Clifford; and a sister, Hilda Fowler. A funeral service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with Pastor Ken Graves of Calvary Chapel officiating. Family and friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will be immediately after the funeral service at Lakeview Cemetery, Western Avenue, Hampden.
