BLAINE – Robie N. Brewer, 74, died Aug. 29, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born Oct. 13, 1934, in East Plantation, the son of Herman and Doris (Hotham) Brewer. Robie was a graduate of Aroostook Central Institute, Mars Hill, Class of 1952 and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed for several years and was then employed at SAD 42, Mars Hill, for more than 37 years, where he was loved by both faculty and students alike. Robie was an avid Red Sox fan, who enjoyed puttering around his home and spending quality time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Gilman) Brewer; his sons, Maurice McCrum and his wife, Lori, of Mars Hill, Bart McCrum and his wife, Dorothy, of Buxton, and Peter Brewer of New Sharon; his daughters, Barbara Jo McCrum of Southwest Harbor, Patti Massa and her husband, Ciro, of Chaplin, Conn., and Abbi Brewer of Blaine; grandchildren, Dirk and Dustin McCrum, Ashley Campbell, Joshua and Anglee Brewer, and Christopher Woods; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Gage McCrum; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn (Lamson) Brewer; a brother, Alton Brewer; sisters, Lois Cheney, Freida Coffin and Bonnie McClay; a nephew, Byron Wilkins; and a special mother-in-law, Kathleen Gilman. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill, with Pastor Sue Brown officiating.
