AGAWAM, Mass., and PRESQUE ISLE – Marissa-Lucia Tangredi-Davis, 49, passed away Sept. 4, 2009, in Presque Isle, after a long, courageous struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born in 1960 in Springfield, Mass., to her parents, John and Marcia Tangredi, Marissa was raised in Agawam, Mass., before settling in Maine. She was an Agawam High School graduate, Class of 1979. She received a Bachelor of Art degree from Curry College and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maine. While serving as a social worker in Maine for many years, Marissa supported numerous families and children by advocating in the court system, assisting distressed families and working with autistic children. In addition to her passion for social work, Marissa enjoyed gardening, cooking, calligraphy, textile arts and conversation. She had the wonderful ability to speak with others easily and enjoyed building relationships throughout her life. Marissa is survived by her loving mother, Marcia (Childs) Tangredi of Agawam, Mass.; her brothers, Dino Tangredi of Boston, and Patrick Tangredi of Portland, Ore.; her two sisters, Mia Tangredi of Redding, Conn., and Bethany Tangredi of Newtown, Conn.; her two nieces, Jaime and Lilith; and Greg Davis of Maine. Marissa was predeceased by her father, John Tangredi; and her brother, John Tangredi Jr. Services in Marissa’s honor will be held 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at St. John Evangelist Church, Agawam, Mass.
