WOODLAND – Paul W. McLauchlan, 63, died Sept. 13, 2009, at his residence. He was born Aug. 21, 1946, in Caribou, son of the late T.W. and Alice (Anderson) McLauchlan. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Wyman McLauchlan, whom he married June 19, 1982; two sons, Ian W. and Justin E. of Woodland; his sister, Jean Frost of Scarborough; and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Bell of Caribou. Paul was predeceased by a daughter, Lindsey Ann. Paul attended Kents Hill and the University of Maine, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. Paul was a well-known Caribou businessman, owning and operating TW Insurance Co. and American International Travel Agency. Most recently he was a real estate broker with Re/Max. He was a Little League coach and umpire, Union 122 baseball coach and assistant coach for the Alpine Ski Team at Caribou High School; Paul was fondly known as “Big Mac.” He was a member of Professional Ski Instructors of America – PSIA, and was one of 16 U.S. instructors to participate in the 9th Interski, Garmish-Partenkirchen, Germany; an International Ski Congress established to enhance and expand skiing worldwide. Paul was a very strong supporter and contributor of the Save Loring Committee, Caribou Development Foundation, Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Urban Renewal, always having Caribou’s best interest in mind. Several times he advocated to maintain air service charters coming to Northern Maine. He was a past member of Caribou Rotary Club and Caribou Country Club. His national affiliations include Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Caribou Lodge No. 170, AF & AM, Maine and National Realtor, and Continental Airlines Advisory Board. Friends may visit with the family 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. with the Rev.
