BUCKSPORT – Olive Harriett (Orcutt) Wight, 96, wife of 73 years of the late Edward C. Wight, passed away peacefully Sept. 23, 2009, at her home with her family by her side. She was born April 15, 1913, in Winter Harbor, the daughter of Everett and Adele Orcutt. She graduated as salutatory from Eastern Maine Conference Seminary in 1930. Olive took great pride in working in her flower gardens. She could be found digging in them in the early mornings and evenings. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, sewing and baking birthday cakes for her family. She was also involved in running Wight’s Dairy for more than 50 years. Most of all she was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were her pride and joy. She was a very patient and loyal wonderful woman who always saw the good in everyone. Olive was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family. Olive is survived by three sons, Donald Wight and wife, Silvia, Charles Wight and wife, Elizabeth, and Philip Wight Sr. and wife, Gail; and one sister, Joyce Goode, all of Bucksport. She also has nine grandchildren, Steven Wight and wife, Gail, of Bucksport, Judy Cole and husband, Freddie, of Sedgwick, Charles Wight and wife, Lisa, of Gardiner, Michael Wight and wife, Theresa, of South China, David Wight and wife, Jill, of Morrill, Philip Wight Jr. and wife, Nickey, of Bucksport, Cheryl Robinson and husband, Randy, of Bucksport, Raymond Wight and wife, Linda, of Orland, and Kathy Heath and husband, Shawn, of Bucksport; 18 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Hillside Cemetery, Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
