BANGOR – Joyce M. Akeley died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at her home. She was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Frank and Rita (Bradley) Akeley. She graduated from Presque Isle High School, Class of 1957. She was very active at the senior’s center in Bangor. Joyce was an airline hostess for American Airlines in New York, where she met and married Robert Bowman and had two daughters, Kim and Cindy. She is survived by her sister, Susan Finnemore and her fiance, Tom Brown, of Augusta; brother, Fred Akeley and his wife, Joy, of the Philippines; daughter, Kim (Bowman) Berry and her husband, Guy, of Annapolis, Md.; three nieces and one nephew, and many cousins in Canada and the states. She will be sadly missed by a special cousin, Ann K. Marston of Bangor. She was predeceased by her parents; and daughter, Cindy, in June 2008. At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the care of Cremation Basics, Inc.
