BRUNSWICK – Frank “Sonny” Bishop Jr., 80, formerly of Fort Fairfield, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick. He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Presque Isle, a son of Frank and Violet Hersey Bishop Sr., and attended schools in Easton and Fort Fairfield. He left Aroostook County earlier in his lifetime to pursue his trade. Frank was a master mechanic for International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 4. This took him to several different cities throughout his 40-year career. He returned to the Brunswick area in 1969. “Sonny” was a member of Acacia Lodge No. 121 AF & AM of Durham, and Maine Antique Power Association. He also enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling and restoring antique engines. He was predeceased by a brother, Russell Bishop; and a sister, Betty Maynard. Surviving are his wife, Chrystal Miller Bishop of Brunswick; his son, Randy M. Bishop and his wife, Debbra, of Newport News, Va.; two daughters, Beverly Fisher and her husband, Don, of Henderson, Nev., and Sylvia Matthews and her husband, Jim, of Rochester Hills, Mich.; a brother, Donald Bishop of Fort Fairfield; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, where a Masonic ritualistic service will begin 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Marvin Milbury officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Estes Cemetery, Easton.
