HOWLAND and PENOBSCOT – Madeline E. Moreau, 92, wife of the late Eugene Moreau, died Nov. 15, 2009, at a Penobscot nursing home. She was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Millinocket, the daughter of Everett and Gladys (Dyer) Savage. Madeline was a member of St. Leo Parish, Howland, and Daughters of Isabella. Madeline worked for Dr. Boucard Nesin for 27 years in Howland. She was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed her. She had many wonderful friends that came to help her out, along with Mary Brown, Agnes Strout, Ruth Burgess, Lucy Ludden and Becky Weymouth; and a very special family, Mike and Tammi French. She is survived by a son, Richard Theriault and his wife, Jean, of Howland; two brothers, Earl Savage of Lincoln and Charlie Savage and his wife, Priscilla, of Connecticut; one sister, Annie “Elaine” Wyman and her husband, Vernol, of Newport; two grandchildren, Joseph D. Theriault and his wife, Joanne, of Surry and Sheri Dyer and her husband, Paul, of Prospect; four great-grandchildren, Lucas Grindle, Alec Dyer, Lacie Theriault and Jennifer Theriault; and one great-great-grandson, Remington Grindle. In addition to her husband, Eugene, she was predeceased by two brothers, Fred Savage and Everett Savage; and four sisters, Eldora Burellis, Laura Nickerson, Joann Wilson and Doris Sweet. The family thanks the staff at Penobscot Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Madeline for the short time she was there and the staff at Cummings Healthcare, Howland, for the care she received while she lived there. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at St. Leo Catholic Church, Howland, with the Rev. Leroy Landry officiating.
