NORTHWOOD, N.H. – Barbara Ann Normand Snyder, 61, passed away gracefully Nov. 24, 2009, with her son, Matthew; and her daughter, Kaitlyn, at her side at her home, after a courageous journey with ovarian cancer. Barb was born July 20, 1948, in Caribou, to Sterling and Shirly Hall, formerly of Houlton. If you were fortunate to have Barbara as your friend, she was your friend for life. You will remember her big heart, sense of humor and loving wit. As a child, she traveled the world with her military family. Barbara was well educated and held various degrees, which included being a certified tumor registrar at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. In this capacity, she provided the environment for growth and expansion of the cancer conference attended by nationally prominent oncologists. She leaves behind many dear friends at the hospital. Barbara taught her children family values, integrity and the importance of being of good heart because being nice matters. Family members include her son, Matthew P. Normand and his wife, Sarah, of Manchester, N.H.; daughter, Kaitlyn E. Stimpson and her husband, Kyle, of Northwood; three grandchildren, Molly, Olivia and Ben; as well as many nieces and nephews. She leaves a brother, James Hall, of Manchester, N.H., and a sister, Cheryl, of Austin, Texas, and their families. Barb also will remain in the hearts of her dear friends of the elite YFS’s, who know who they are and will remain anonymous. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, N.H., where relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 1 p.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, Barb requests donations to Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian Cancer, 251 West Central St., Suite 32, Natick, MA 01760.
