NEWPORT – Lois Elaine (Salisbury) Elkins Hayward, 82, died Dec. 6, 2009, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born April 17, 1927, in Town Hill. She was predeceased by her mother, Phyllis Iveney; her stepfather, George W. Iveney; her first husband, Earl Elkins; her second husband, Bill Hayward; and two sons, Roland and Russell Elkins. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Bessette of Bass Harbor and Janet Murphy of Florida; a sister, Virginia Gray of Ellsworth; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
