BRADFORD – Royce A. DeLaite, 86, passed away peacefully Dec. 26, 2009, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. Royce was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Kingman, to the late Harold R. and Esther M. McEwen DeLaite. Royce served in the U.S. Army before working for Maine Department of Transportation for many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching endless baseball games. Royce is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sherrill S. (Bubier) DeLaite of Bradford; daughters, Denise Young and husband, Steve, and Stacy Bubier, all of Bradford; son, Arnold Bubier of Atkinson; grandchildren, Robert and Amanda Young and Casandra O’Connor, all of Bradford; four great-grandchildren, Abigail and Cody Young, and Brooke and Brady O’Connor; stepson, Arthur Clough of Corinth; sisters, Audrey Anslie of Augusta, Grace Moores and husband, Walter, of Florida; and brother, Bert DeLaite of Lincoln. He was predeceased by a brother, Dale Delaite; and a sister, Magdolyn Buell. In keeping with Royce’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services. Family and friends may gather noon-3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Royce’s home, 1267 Main Road, Bradford.
