WINTERPORT – Elaine Dahl, 63, wife of Dr. Bernhoff A. Dahl, died Jan. 10, 2010, after a courageous battle with methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus – MRSA. She was born in 1947, in Bangor, the daughter of Lewis and Dorothy (Bell) Pearson. She grew up in Bangor. Elaine worked as a secretary at Eastern Maine Medical Center mostly in the chaplaincy office. She served on several boards of area organizations including, Husson University; Edith Dyer Library, Hampden; Good Samaritan Agency; and YWCA, Bangor. She and Bernie enjoyed extensive travel around the world including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 1989. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, children and many friends. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 31 years of Winterport, are two children, Robert Thompson of Holden, and Heather Smith and her husband, Millard, of Windham; two stepchildren, Eric Dahl and his wife, Elise, of Quebec and Dr. Sarah Dahl and her husband, Charles, of Bennington, Vt.; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Colleen, Allison, Isaac, Olivia, Emma, Chloe, Loic and Laura; two sisters, Judy Smith and her husband, Vaughn, of Bangor, Louise Walker and her husband, Micky, of Butler, Pa.; one brother, Phillip Pearson and his wife, Kyoko, of Wisconsin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A service celebrating Elaine’s life will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced.
