CRAWFORD – Peter Brett Harvey, 59, passed away peacefully Jan. 10, 2010, at his home. He was born Jan. 20, 1950, in Bangor, son of the late Dr. Edmund Y and Gretchen (Brett) Harvey of Greenville. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and the University of Maine, Orono, with advanced degrees in education. Throughout the course of his career, Peter served as a teacher, principal and superintendent in school systems in Maine and Vermont. A passionate advocate for children and educators, he will be missed by loved ones, friends and colleagues. Peter is survived by his wife, Linda (Mulholland) Harvey of Crawford; three children, Kimberly Laplant and her husband, Seth, of Verona, Benjamin Harvey and his partner, Shannon, of Crawford and Kate Harvey of Bangor; a sister, Ruth H. Webber and her husband, Ralph, of Bangor; four beloved grandchildren, Rance, Aven, Owen and Sara; a nephew, Ian Webber; several cousins and many friends. Friends are invited to join the family for conversation and refreshments noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Alexander Elementary School, 1430 Airline Road, Alexander. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Alexander Elementary School, care of Terry Charlton, principal. Interment will take place at a later date.
