NEW SWEDEN – Irma O. Rouse, 86, died Jan. 25, 2010, in Presque Isle. She was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Caribou, the daughter of Hjalmer W. and Annie (Peterson) Lundean. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary to Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Irma was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She is survived by four sons, Darrell Dale Rouse of Caribou, Stephen Rouse and his wife, Barbara McInnis, of Washburn, Malcolm Rouse and his wife, Sue, of Turner, and Larry Rouse and his wife, Rebecca, of Presque Isle; one daughter, Kim Barone and her husband, Ron, of North Waterboro; one sister, Anna DeBrase of Brookline, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Brian, Mary Anne, Jason, William, Kristopher, Jonathan, Jesse and Garrett; seven great-grandchildren, Autumn, Allison, Hayden, Ian, Jackson, Kassie and Hailey; several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by special friends, Millie Dumais of Presque Isle, Dorothy Saucier of Caribou and Arlene Hasford of Island Falls; a niece, Brenda Morin and David Cochran of Woodland; a niece, Linda Dickinson and Marie Thibeault, both of Caribou; a niece, Anita Gardiner of Madawaska Lake; several nieces and nephews. Irma was predeceased by her husband of 52 years whom she married July 22, 1996, Darrell Rouse; and by her brothers and sisters. Friends may call noon until time of services Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A funeral service will begin 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Spring interment will take place at Crouseville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to contribute in memory of Irma may do so to New Sweden Historical Museum or New Sweden Thomas Park. Envelopes may also be obtained through the funeral home.
