VEAZIE – Norma E. (Henriksen) Graffam, 81, died Jan. 24, 2010, at her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Olamon, the daughter of Eli Richardt and Eliza Henrietta (Hapworth) Henriksen. Norma married Charles A. Graffam, Dec. 25, 1949. She was the longest active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pushaw Ward, Bangor, and held many positions in the church throughout the years, including president of the Relief Society and Primary. She most enjoyed her position as music director. She was a member of Rebekahs of Orono; a former member of the Veazie school board, the town council, the zoning board; and an active volunteer in the schools and many civic activities. She also served as a den mother of the Cub Scouts. Norma’s greatest calling of all was that of a mother to her children and wife to her husband, Charlie, with whom she enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Surviving are her husband, Charles “Charlie” Graffam of Veazie; five children, Charles A. “Chuck” Graffam Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Orrington, Linda (Graffam) Collinson of Albion, Dana Graffam and his wife, Patricia, of Eastport, Sharon Graffam of Orlando, Fla., and David Graffam and his wife, Patricia, of Levant; 10 grandchildren, Stacy, Tony, Chad, Jeremy, Sean, Ryan, Jason, Jodie, Jesse and Regan; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Blanche Harrison, Asta Blanchard and Vera Byard; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Hazel Thomas. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Raymond Noye; and sisters, Viola Hawkins and Olivia Kneale. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grandview Avenue and Essex Street, Bangor. Spring interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie.
