BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Leo P. “Bud” Daigle, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Savannah Court Assisted Living Center, North Palm Beach, Fla. Bud was born Jan. 15, 1924, at Soldier Pond, to Leo M. and Elizabeth (Brown) Daigle. Bud attended the University of Maine. He married Rita Ouellette and they had a daughter, Frances. In 1952 Bud married Clair Godreau. They moved to Riverhead, Long Island, where Bud managed a potato starch factory. They were blessed with a son, Peter. In 1969 Bud married Gladys Dorsey Peterson. Bud moved to Boynton Beach, Fla., in 1975. He met and married Jean Arrowsmith in 1977. Bud stayed on in Boynton Beach, Fla., and worked in the insurance industry until he retired in 2009. Bud was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Boynton Beach, Fla. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He was an avid dancer and sought out events that allowed him to “cut a rug.” His family was most important in his life followed closely by his work. Bud was happiest when he felt he was being productive. Bud battled cancer for many years. Through his fight he became very close to and relied heavily on his stepdaughter, Patti-Lee D’Ausilio and her daughter, Ashley “AJ” Cornelius, as they accompanied him on his life’s journey. We are all very grateful for the love, companionship and support they gave him. Bud was predeceased by his parents; his wives, Rita, Clair, Gladys and Jean; and a brother, Richard. He is survived by his daughter, Fran and Gary Durepo of Othello, Wash.; his son, Peter Daigle and Janet Senechal of Stratham, N.H.; his stepchildren, Patti Lee D’Ausilio, Ken Arrowsmith and Sandy Arrowsmith; his brothers, William “Bill” Daigle and Cora, John Daigle and Jeannine, all of Fort Kent, and Patrick Daigle of South Salem, N.Y.; his sisters, Doretta “Ted” Jalbert and James of Richmond, Va., Marilyn “Sis” Knoy of Tulsa, Okla., and Patricia Kuhns of Grey; his grandchildren, Jason Durepo of Othello, Wash., Beth Mancuso of Cleveland, Jennifer Durepo of Othello, Wash., and Christopher Durepo of Cincinnati; and six great-grandchildren. Bud will be laid to rest in Presque Isle. A Mass to celebrate his life will be said in late July during the Daigle family reunion.
