BAR HARBOR – Eleanor Mildred (Joy) Farley, 101, died April 4, 2010, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 7, 1909, on Cranberry Island, the daughter of Arthur A. and Vida Mae (Stanley) Joy. Eleanor worked for Jackson Laboratory for 22 years. She attended Bar Harbor Congregational Church. She is survived by her daughter, Mavis Murphy of Bass Harbor; grandsons, James A. Sprague of Rhode Island, Timothy C. Sprague of Massachusetts and David House of New Hampshire; one granddaughter, Wendy House; one great-grandson, Carlton Sprague; and two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Rachel House. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Everett Farley; one son, Stanley Alden Farley; and one daughter, Anita Joy House. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 9.
