WINN – Josefine M. Miller, 88, died April 11, 2010, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of Johann and Karolina (Frey) Grill. During World War II, she served in the German Army Signal Corps in Dijon, France; and Paris. After World War II, she worked for the U.S. Army as a secretary to the education advisor at the Army Education Center. Josefine met her husband, Henry, while he was stationed in Germany and came to the U.S. in 1952. They married Feb. 7, 1953, in Winn. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. Josefine and Henry enjoyed traveling in the U.S., Canada and Europe; they also enjoyed their rides in the Maine woods. Josefine met many wonderful people during her travels. Josefine was a talented artist, gifting many oil paintings, watercolors, stained glass, and pressed flower cards to friends and family throughout the years. Josefine was predeceased by her husband, Henry and their son, Dolan, in 2003; her parents; a brother, Hans; and a sister, Johanna. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hans and Cissy and grandsons, Blake and Nicholas; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl and her grandchildren, Richard, Stephen and Stacy, all of New Hampshire; and two great-grandchildren, Jade and Jackson Beek, also of New Hampshire. She is also survived by her sister, Auguste Dietz; a brother, Josef Grill; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends of Germany. Josefine also leaves her good friends, Gloria Moors, Hazel Gilman, Ingrid Moscone, Theresa Thurlow and Delight Tolman, and all the ladies of the “Overseas Club.” Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15. Interment will be at Potter Brook Cemetery, Winn. Those wishing to remember Josefine in a special way may make donations to Lincoln Lakes Dialysis Center Activity Fund.
