GREENE – Debbie R. Hannigan passed away peacefully April 21, 2010, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 9, 1956, to Delmar and Betty Sewell. She enjoyed going to Oxford Plains Speedway and working with Mike on her son’s racecar. She also enjoyed camping with family and friends, knitting hats and mittens for kids, and taking an annual trip to a NASCAR race, taking her as far away as Talladega, Ala., and all points in between. Debbie worked at home sewing and at Eastland Shoe Co. Her true passion was helping build their business, JDM, also known as Hannigan’s Garage, from the ground up in 1999. She survived by her husband and best friend, Michael Hannigan; her son, Jason and girlfriend, Carrie H. McCoy; three daughters, Brittney, Aylison and Jayla, who so fondly called her “Grammie”; three brothers, Delmar, Dennis and Darren; and three sisters, Darlene Botting, Tina Porter and Lori Watton. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. May 1 at Ludlow Cemetery, Ludlow. In lieu of flowers, Deb’s wish was that all kids have hats and mittens. Please make a donation to a local children’s charity to support her wish.
