EASTPORT – Debra “Debbie” Hooper, 54, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 16, 1956, in Eastport, the daughter of William “Sonny” Cook and Marcella Lorraine (Ramsdell) Cook. Debbie grew up on the island and attended Eastport schools. For most of her life, she worked in the local area before moving to Albuquerque, N.M., for several years. She returned to Eastport to be surrounded by her friends and family. Her family will always be grateful for the loving care Debbie received from the staff at Eastport Nursing Home. Survivors include her husband, Robin L. Hooper of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons; Michael W. Cook of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jac A. Cook of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, Hazen “Buddy” Cook of Baileyville, William “Billy” Cook Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., and Richard “Ricky” Cook of Eastport; one sister, Bobbie Jo Rice of Blue Hill; five grandchildren, four nieces and four nephews. Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport, where a funeral service will begin 6 p.m. with Father James Plourde officiating. A graveside service will be held noon Saturday, May 1, at Brewer Cemetery, Robbinston. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
