CAPE NEDDICK and CLIFTON – After several years of failing health, Regina Eulalia (Guptill) Freeman, 94, wife of the late Pearl L. Freeman, went to be with her Lord April 25, 2010, with her son, Jerry Freeman, at her side at a Brewer health care facility. Born Feb. 15, 1916, on Wood Island, New Brunswick, she was the youngest of seven children to Willie A. and Jennie Kathleen (Wilcox) Guptill. She was a member of Cape Neddick Baptist Church for more than 60 years after transferring from Wood Island Reformed Baptist Church. Regina faithfully served her church and community throughout her life, serving with youth groups at church, within the neighborhood and with York Council of Girl Scouts. After her retirement from nursing, she continued to volunteer at health clinics and more in York and Wells, giving more than 2,300 hours. She was a life member of York Golf and Tennis Club, golfing well into her 80s. In years past, she was a member of York’s Historical Society and worked as a tour guide and hostess at Jefferd’s Tavern for several seasons. Regina was an active member and chaplain of American Legion Post No. 56, York. Her life was blessed with many kind and caring friends and neighbors. Each one adding happy memories she treasured. She was predeceased by her husband, Pearl L. Freeman, April 4, 1997, after 50 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Roswell Artson Guptill of Wood Island, New Brunswick, and Ronald Twiler Guptill and his wife, Vera (Brown) Guptill, of Lubec; and sisters, Bertie Wilmina (Guptill) Lorimer and her husband, Vernon “Ben” Lorimer, of Wood Island, New Brunswick, and Mark Hill, Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Mildred Constance (Guptill) Wilson and her husband, Hartley Wilson, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Merle Louise (Guptill) Doane and her husband, Silas, of New Bedford, Mass., and Florence Virginia (Guptill) Green and her husband, Kenneth Green, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, New Brunswick. Surviving her are her children: daughter, Nellie Eloise (Guptill) Huckins and her husband, Leon “Jack” Huckins, of North Head, Grand Manan, New Brunswick; son, Gerald Edward Freeman and wife, Bonny (McKay) Freeman, of Clifton, with whom she made her home as her health declined; daughter, Elona Jeanne (Freeman) Reynolds and her husband, Wayne H. Reynolds, of Berwick; and son, William Edward Freeman and wife, Joyce Mathieu, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Our family is grateful to everyone that helped her through these past few months, especially her granddaughter, Jody McDonnell; her doctors and nurses, and the caring staff at Brewer Rehabilitation.
