CARIBOU – Donald E. Everett, 88, husband of Edna (Foss) Everett, passed away with his wife and son by his side Saturday, May 22, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 13, 1921, in Fort Fairfield, the youngest child of Earl and Jerusha (Wright) Everett. Donald graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1939. After attending vocational school in New York, he went to work for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut. He served in the Navy during World War II in Miami in aircraft maintenance. After the war he worked as an auto mechanic at various locations before operating his own garage in Fort Fairfield. He then became general manager for M.C. Locke Co. for several years, until his retirement in 1973. Donald loved RVing winters in Florida for several years, garage sales, camping and making wood crafts. He’ll be greatly missed and always loved. Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Edna of Caribou; son, Jeffrey Everett and his wife, Cathy, of Caribou; son-in-law, Wayne Reed of Augusta; grandchildren, Timothy Reed and his wife, Tina, of Hampden, Kimberly Blackstone and her husband, Dana, of Winthrop and Ryan Everett of Woodland; great-grandchildren, Tyler Reed, Trevor Reed and Drew Blackstone; sister-in-law, Ruth Barnes of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Reed of Augusta, July 25, 2009; brothers, Ralph and Ken Everett; and sister, Georgie Foss. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou, with the Rev. Thomas Bentum officiating.
