BAR HARBOR – Harold Robert MacQuinn, 80, died peacefully July 22, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Aug. 15, 1929, son of Carlton and Marguerite (Graves) MacQuinn. Robert joined the U.S. Army April 17, 1951, and proudly served his country in the Korean War. He then returned home to Bar Harbor, where he worked with crews on the park roads and trails and for Webber Construction until 1959, at which time he gained employment at Jackson Laboratory, where he continued to work for 30 years. Robert retired from Jackson Laboratory in 1989. He was very proud of his career at Jackson Laboratory and enjoyed the people he worked with. He often talked about memories of Jackson Laboratory throughout his retirement years. Robert was known as “Uncle Bobby” or “Peanut” to his family and friends. His happiest times were when he was with family. Robert’s family thanks the staff at Westgate Manor for their care during the last days of his life. He is survived by his brother, Arthur MacQuinn and his wife, Teresa; his sister, Susan MacQuinn of Bar Harbor; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Robinette; nephews, Stephen R. Mitchell and Alan W. Frazier; his parents; and stepmother, Thelma B. MacQuinn. A private service for the family will be held on a date to be determined. Interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
