She was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Pittsfield, the eldest of five children to Ivan and Ella (Noyes) Starbird. She graduated from Maine Central Institute. Marie met and married Errald N. Turner in 1950. She worked for a time as a cafeteria cook, but most of her life was spent as a homemaker, taking care of her family and enjoying her daughters and grandchildren. She attended People’s United Methodist Church, Newport, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. Marie and her husband were active square dancers and officers in the club. She was an avid reader. Her other hobbies included visiting and collecting lighthouses, taking photos of covered bridges, puzzles, camping, traveling on Cyr bus tours, and Elvis. Marie also enjoyed eating lobster and going on picnic lunches with her family and friends. In her later years, she got involved in making quilts, which she shared as gifts with her family members. In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Richard Foster of Bangor and Faye and Allen Adams of Glenburn; a brother, Jan Starbird of Levant; five grandchildren, Hydi-Jean and husband, Rob Prentice, David and wife, Kim Sewall, Levi and wife, Andrea Sewall, Travis Adams and partner, Heather, and Ashley Adams; eight great grandchildren, Zachary, Katelyn, Anna, Owen, McKenzie, Riley, Jacob and Bradley; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends, including Gerry Mountain and her card playing buddies.
