BREWER – Freda E. DeFord, 73, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Bangor. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Joseph S. DeFord; her parents, Gladys McCutcheon and Merle Crossman; eight siblings and a grandson at birth. She is survived by her children, Sharon Black and husband, Philip, of Brewer, Brenda Eldridge and husband, Terrell, of Belton, Mo., Joseph DeFord and companion, Jody Nicholson, Melvin DeFord, and Lynn Hibler and companion, Bernardino Madrigal, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis, Barbara and Fred, all of Maine, George of Virginia and Ed of Nevada; and close family friend, Margaret McInnis. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast.
