PERRY – David K. Lincoln went to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, after a long illness. David was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Philadelphia, son of the late Arthur E. Lincoln and Martha Spinney Lincoln. Due to the hardships of the Great Depression, felt especially by people living in the city, David moved with his parents to Perry in 1934. Starting at an early age, David loved to read. He was an honor student at Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1948, and a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, Class of 1953. In the years before government financial aid was available to students, David encouraged and supported his siblings in becoming college graduates. David was an engineering officer aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Philippine Sea CVS-47 for two years, followed by many years as an engineer aboard the ships of Military Sea Transportation Service and Military Sealift Command. Starting in the 1980s he became employed as a design engineer for the U.S. Navy, Washington, D.C., and Bath Iron Works. The past two years he had been attending Cornerstone Baptist Church, Eastport, and had enjoyed being a “snowbird” with Dale and Elsie in Zephyrhills, Fla. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ron MacKechnie. Surviving are his brother, Dale Lincoln and his wife, Elsie, of Perry; a sister, Ruth Lincoln MacKechnie of Calais; nephew, Dale Lincoln II of Saco; two nieces, Carol Lincoln Coffee and her fiance, Dan Faust, of North Smithfield, R.I., and Diana Lincoln Macomber and her husband, Charles, and their children, Alex and Alyssa Macomber of Plainville, Conn.; several cousins; and two special friends, Kevin and Mary Callahan. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at Restlawn Cemetery, Perry, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com.
