MILLINOCKET – Richard Rush Bishop, 71, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 30, 1939, in Millinocket, to Frank Thomas and Agnes Marion (Rush) Bishop. Dick attended Bangor schools, and joined the Navy when he was 17. After completing his four years he went to barber school in Lewiston. He set up shop in Millinocket and most boys in the area had their hair cut by Dick. Later he got a job as custodian for Millinocket School Department, a job he held until he retired 25 years later. Dick was an outdoorsman, loving to fish, hike and just be out in the woods. Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Barbara; three sons, Mark of Millinocket, Matthew of Texas and Michael of Millinocket; a granddaughter, Mikalah of Virginia, who was the light of his life; two aunts, Mildred Rush and Louise Rush, both of Millinocket; two special nephews, Frank “Tom” Bishop III of East Millinocket and Brad Bishop of North Carolina; a special niece, Karen Morrow of Millinocket; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Frances Bishop of Millinocket. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his brother, Tom. Due to family obligations and commitments, committal services will be held in 2011.
