DOVER-FOXCROFT – Our dad, Robert “Bob” Edward Weymouth Jr., 93, died peacefully Sept. 25, 2010, in the home he built for his family in 1948. Dad was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Robert E. and Annie (Shannon) Weymouth. For many years Dad worked in the woolen mill, after which he started his own roofing company. He was often seen around town with his son, Robert III, working by his side, walking around on a rooftop as if he were on level ground. Dad enjoyed hunting and fishing; he loved the outdoors and enjoyed telling stories of his experiences in the woods. Dad was a good family man and worked hard to take care of his wife and five children, providing a good home for us. He was especially proud of his family and enjoyed their visits. He always had a smile on his face while watching the little ones run around and play. He left us with many great memories of our family gatherings at Sebec Lake and instilled a great love of the lake and the outdoors in each and every one of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will continue the tradition of the Weymouth Family Gathering he and our mother enjoyed so much. Dad was predeceased by his wife and our mother, Arlene (Preble); and his oldest son, Stephen O. Weymouth. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Michael and John; and a sister, Phyllis Dean. He is survived by his sons, Michael and his wife, Peggy, of Hingham, Mass., Robert III of Dover-Foxcroft and Peter and his wife, Karen, of Scarborough; his daughter, Susan Small and her husband, Eldridge, of Sebec; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sonia Emery of Scarborough; many nieces and nephews. The family thanks our very special friend and caregiver, Kathy Campbell, whose love and devotion to our father was exceptional and we will forever be grateful to her; and to our nighttime caregiver, Tanya. We were so lucky to have these two caring individuals taking care of our dad. We also appreciate the support given to us and our dad through the Community Health and Counseling Services Hospice program. We will miss our dad, but knowing that he is now with our mother and brother makes his passing a little easier for us. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Bea Violet officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Gray Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pine Tree Hospice, 897 W. Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
