SURRY – Norman O. Stairs, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at his home on Toddy Pond that he loved dearly. He graduated from Bucksport High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years being stationed in Germany. Upon his return from the Air Force he worked for and retired from Champion Paper Co. with 43 years of service. He was a member of Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Masons Felicity Lodge No. 19 AF & AM, Bucksport, and American Legion Post No. 93, Bucksport. After his retirement Norman built his home on Toddy Pond. His love of the lake and his dogs made his home the best place for him to be with family and friends. He is survived by one niece, Diane Biedeck and husband, Jim; and two nephews, Dana Stairs and wife, Sue, and Andrew Stairs. Norman was predeceased by one brother, Lawrence Stairs. At Norman’s request there will be no services. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
