VAN BUREN – Sylvia Berube Raines died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Cary Medical, Caribou. She was born March 9, 1936, in Van Buren, the beloved daughter of Wilfred and Helen (Daigle) Berube. She was a 1953 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Van Buren. She left Van Buren after graduation and lived most of her adult life in North Carolina raising her family. She had a loving heart that was larger than life to those who knew and loved her. Her infectious laugh would brighten any room, and she had a compassionate and generous heart that reached out to all those in need. She worked as a caregiver in North Carolina for many years and then returned to Van Buren to care for her loving mother. Sylvia leaves behind two daughters, Debra Hinson and Myra Coleman of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Amanda Wright, Heather McGee, Amber Holden, Crystal Parrish and Tonya Salazar; seven great-grandchildren, Trey and Aidan Register, Katelyn and Joshua McGee, Jocelyn Holden, Kimberly and Aaron Parrish, all of North Carolina; three sisters, Lorraine Redwine and husband, Earl, of St. David, Lena Levasseur of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Marilyn Chasse and husband, Patrick, of Madawaska; one brother, Verne Berube and wife, Nancy, of Orlando, Fla.; and a dear friend, Patrick Chasse of Van Buren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Winnifred Whalen; and two brothers, Bertram and Roderick Berube. Relatives and friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church.
