UNITY – Florence E. Noonan, 83, lost her courageous battle against cancer Nov. 3, 2010, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Waterville. She was born May 19, 1927, in New York, the daughter of James and Harriet A. (Soden) Noonan. Florence had always enjoyed learning about people all over the world, traveling around the world – especially loving Europe, the Middle East, India and Bali, and reliving those travels through her journals and international stamp collection. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Temple University and Master of Arts degree from Boston College. After working in the insurance industry and for Farm Journal, she started teaching at Unity College in 1968 until her retirement in 1992 as a professor. She felt that she had been so lucky to lead such a remarkable life and greatly appreciated all of her friends and students. At Florence’s request, there will be no funeral or visitation hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
