BLUE HILL – Nancy Nivison Hamilton, 98, died Nov. 13, 2010, at Island Nursing Home, Deer Isle. She was born July 28, 1912, in Winslow, daughter of John A. and Margaret C. (Campbell) Nivison. She graduated from Colburn Classical Institute and Colby College, and attended Yale School of Music. Nancy was an accomplished pianist and organist who accompanied many church and civic groups throughout her life. She was a founding member of Pioneer Valley Symphony. She was employed as a home decorator in the family business at Hamilton Interiors, Greenfield, Mass. Her most passionate interest was the welfare and accomplishments of her extended family. Nancy is survived by son, Douglas B. Hamilton of Dummerston, Vt.; daughters, Margaret H. Smith and husband, Albert R., of Brooklin and Barbara H. Martin and husband, Nathan C., of Lexington, Mass., and Brooklin; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; granddaughter, Virginia S. Gray; and great-granddaughter, Cori Gray. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held next summer at Hamilton Shores on Blue Hill Bay.
