ELLSWORTH – Robert V. Carney passed away Nov. 21, 2010, in Ellsworth. He was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Bucksport, son of Vernon and Mildred Carney. Robert graduated from Bucksport High School in 1952. Throughout the years, he worked at several jobs. He managed Hannaford’s, owned his own small convenience store, delivered for Footman’s Dairy, worked at Husson College and then retired from Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. His love for cooking was shown in every job from the peanut butter fudge made just to bring a smile across a co-workers face or his canned mincemeat and scallop chowder at Christmas. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Alberta “Bert” Carney; son, Larry Carney; a stepson, Marshall Carrier; and brother, Donald Carney. He is survived by his daughter, Julie and husband, D.J. Schraps, of Washington state; son, James and wife, Jeni Carney, of Ellsworth; son, Stewart and wife, Mary Carney, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, John and wife, Cheryl Carney, of Brewer; three stepchildren, Vickie Barry of Bangor, Patrick Carrier of Otis and Kendal and wife, Patti Dunbar, of Bucksport; Bob’s three sister, all favorites in their own special way, Gerry, Polly and Vi; and two brothers, Billy and Dick. Special thanks to my niece, Betty Lou and husband, Armand. Bob had many loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; special friends, Kurt and Jackie; co-workers at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and across the city of Ellsworth; as well as his beloved dog, Max. There will be no funeral services. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport. After the service there will be a celebration of Bob’s life.
