After allegedly crashing into a city snowplow early Wednesday morning and then fleeing the scene, a Rockland man was charged with operating under the influence.
Adam Burke, 23, was driving north on Main Street in Rockland at 1 a.m. in a green 2002 Chevrolet truck when he came upon a snowplow that was being backed from Main Street onto Tillson Avenue by operator Ron Smith, 46, according to a report from the Rockland Police Department.
Burke reportedly tried to pass the plow by driving around it on the snowbank, but hit the corner of the vehicle with his truck, police said.
“Burke stopped and an argument took place,” the report said.
Smith allegedly told Burke he would call the police and then Burke left, driving the wrong way up School Street, the report said.
Rockland police stopped him on Summer Street, arrested him and charged him with OUI. He also was summoned for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failing to report an accident by the quickest means, according to the report.
Damage to Burke’s truck was estimated at $1,500. Damage to the city plow was estimated at $200. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and no one was injured in the crash, according to the report.

A man who allegedly tried to sell clothing that had been mistakenly delivered to him two months ago was busted this week when the woman who had ordered the clothes spotted them for sale at a Belfast consignment shop, according to police.
Richard H. Pacino, 28, of Belfast apparently received a package through UPS in October containing $158 worth of clothing that was intended for the previous occupant at his address, according to Sgt. John Gibbs of the Belfast Police Department.
Instead of returning it to the company, Pacino allegedly brought the clothing — complete with tags — to the Twice Loved Boutique, a Belfast consignment shop.
Meanwhile, the woman who had ordered the clothes informed the company that they hadn’t arrived and her money was reimbursed, Gibbs said.
But before Christmas, the woman went to Twice Loved Boutique and saw the clothing for sale there and then reported the matter to police, Gibbs said.
Gibbs found Pacino and asked him about the clothing.
“He was very cooperative,” Gibbs said.
Pacino apparently admitted to having done it and was issued a summons Tuesday for mail theft.

A teenage girl escaped injury Tuesday when her car skidded on slippery roads and she collided with a Ford-350 snowplow.
The accident happened about 10 a.m. on Mount Ephraim Road in Searsport, according to Police Chief Richard LaHaye.
Gabrielle Fraser, 16, of Knox was driving south in a 2009 Hyundai Accent when she lost traction on the snowy roadway, LaHaye said Wednesday.
“She veered into the oncoming lane but was able to steer away from the other vehicle enough that she hit the driver’s-side rear,” he said.
Fraser had been traveling about 15 to 20 mph when she hit the truck, which was driven by Dwayne Sambrook, 43, of Searsport.
The plow had an estimated $500 in damage. The Hyundai had about $5,000, LaHaye said.
Neither driver had any passengers and neither was injured, he said. The air bag in the Hyundai deployed and both Fraser and Sambrook were wearing their seat belts.
The Searsport Fire Department went to the crash scene and assisted with traffic, he said.
