DEXTER, Maine — A Corinna woman and two Dexter boys have been charged in connection with a break-in at the Sterling Lounge on Spring Street.
The Dexter Police Department believes the trio also are behind two other business break-ins, according to Sgt. Kevin Wintle.
Nicole Worster, 18, has been charged with one count of burglary. A burglary charge also has been lodged against a Dexter juvenile who was arrested in connection with the break-in, and a second juvenile who was charged in the break-in, Wintle said. He said Wednesday that a third juvenile is of interest to police in connection with the case.
Wintle said other charges involving break-ins at the Tri-County Technical Center and the municipal garage may be lodged against the trio. Information has been provided to the district attorney, who will decide if further charges are warranted, he said.
The break-ins began on Nov. 25, when burglars forced their way into the technical center at Dexter Regional High School. Wintle said the burglars cut a lock to gain entry. Gasoline and a gas can were reported missing from the building. Officer Gary Morin investigated the break-in.
On Nov. 29, the first of three break-ins was reported at the town garage. A door was pried open to gain entry for each break-in, according to Wintle. Stolen from the building were gasoline and truck parts. The burglars also damaged town equipment by cutting hoses and putting a material such as hay or grass into the gasoline tanks, he said.
At the Dec. 1 break-in at Sterling Lounge, more than $1,000 worth of items was taken including an ice auger, ice traps and antique signs, Wintle said. He said Cpl. Alan Grinnell received information that helped solve the break-ins.
