ORONO – Opal Clark Demings left this life for her heavenly home Feb. 4, 2011. She passed away unexpectedly at a Bangor hospital. Opal was born April 10, 1955, in Greenville, to Argie and Jim Clark.
She was raised in Greenville and employed for many years at Bath Iron Works.
She is survived by two loving children, Jason Canders and girlfriend, Liz, of Greenville and Becky Gunnels and husband, Tony, of Monmouth; and three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Joshua and Kyle Gunnels of Monmouth and Bristol Canders of Greenville. She is also survived by her loving significant other, James Richards of Orono; sisters, Sondra King and her husband, Charles, of Corinth and Nancy Morse of Corinth; as well as several nieces and nephews; special friend, Bobby Edgerly of Greenville; and many faithful friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Argie Clark; and two sisters, Dianne Jones of York and Jackie Clark of Manchester, Conn. Opal will be forever remembered as a loyal friend to all who needed her and will be missed by all who knew her.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be scheduled in Greenville in spring 2011 and the date will be announced later in the local paper. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in Opal’s memory be made to American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
