NEWPORT – Linda D. Hanson, 64, died unexpectedly Feb. 9, 2011, at a Pittsfield hospital. Linda was born July 22, 1946, in Limestone, the daughter of Edmund and Gladys (Poitras) Bellfleur.

She was a graduate of Newport High School, Class of 1964. Linda married Rodney Hanson Jr. Feb. 13, 1965. They were married for 43 years before his unexpected death Feb. 24, 2008. Rodney and Linda lived in Newport and for many years they made their home in Fairfield, moving to Crossville, Tenn., in 2004. While in Fairfield Linda served as a secretary for several departments at SAD 49, retiring due to ill health. She was involved in several organizations that her children took part in. She was a former member of Fairfield Women’s Club. Linda loved her family and enjoyed being with her children as they grew up. She enjoyed playing Beano and never missed a chance to go to Bangor and “play the slots.” Linda was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield.

She is survived by two sons, Rodney A. Hanson III of Franklin and Todd D. Hanson of Lisbon Falls; one daughter, Jordin Hanson of Crossville, Tenn.; two brothers and their wives, Gary and Rosa Bellfleur of Stetson and Conrad and Nancy Bellfleur of Pittsfield; three sisters, Marilyn Flannery of Tennessee, Brenda and her husband, Ernie Parent, of South Carolina and Bonnie Bouchard of Connecticut; two grandsons, Mason and Maddox; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda will also be remembered by her husband’s parents, Rodney and Nellie Hanson Sr. of Newport. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, where Rites of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15.
