HOWLAND – Roberta Bell Tozier, 87, died peacefully Feb. 10, 2011, at Cummings Healthcare, Howland, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Lincoln, to Edwin and Lillian Bowker.
Most of Roberta’s childhood was spent on her parent’s farm. As an adult, her occupations included working on a tree farm for four years, as well as sewing shoes with various shoe companies for 12 years. Roberta married William Tozier and they had four children, whom they raised in West Enfield. Roberta thoroughly enjoyed playing Beano every Sunday with friends at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, West Enfield, where she was president for many years. She especially enjoyed meeting with special friend, Jesse Leveille, for breakfast at the 95’er Restaurant. Her family will lovingly remember Christmas Eve’s spent with her. She would talk about “old times,” laugh for hours with her sons and could never wait to open presents. None of us will ever master her famous peanut butter fudge.
Roberta was predeceased by her husband, William Tozier; and daughters, Roberta Jean and Rhonda Lee. She is survived by two sons, William Larry Tozier and his wife, Joyce, of West Enfield and Edwin Tozier of Edinburg; 10 grandchildren, Chris Tozier of West Enfield, Tammy O’Dell of Newport, Denise Faloon of South Korea, Larry Tozier and his wife, Julie, Donovan Tozier, Jamie Tozier-Rowlette and her husband, Marc, all of Missouri, Eric Tozier of California, Danielle Tozier of West Enfield, Megan Dube and her husband, Wes, of West Enfield and Brian Tozier of Brewer; and 15 great-grandchildren, Katelynn Gerry, Cody Faloon, Seth Tozier, Logan O’Dell, Creagan and Reese Leonard, Madison, Parker, Emily and Brendan Tozier, Maleeha Tozier, Isabella and Fletcher Rowlette, James and Sophia Dube.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held in the springtime.
