DELMAR, N.Y. – Bernard Striar, 88, passed away Feb. 8, 2011, at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center, Delmar, N.Y. He was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Bangor, son of the late Sam and Jennie Striar.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Striar; and by his brothers, Morris and William. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Striar of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son, Gary of Delmar, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Catherine Durand of Delmar, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Adam and Samuel Striar; his sister, Rita Pepper of Selden, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Striar of Washington, D.C.; many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at Good Samaritan for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Bernie during the last few years.
A funeral service will be held in Bangor at a later date.
