FORT FAIRFIELD and PERTH-ANDOVER, New Brunswick – Roland J. Dion, 58, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 21, 2011, at a Mars Hill nursing facility, after a brief illness. He was born March 2, 1952, in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, the son of Romeo and Laura (Martin) Dion.
He was educated in the Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, school system and had been employed in the potato farming industry for several area growers for many years.
He was predeceased by his father, Romeo Dion, in 1998; and one brother, Roger Dion. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Scott Larson of Fort Fairfield; his mother, Laura Dion of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick; five sisters, Bibianne Morin and her husband, Raymond, of Montreal, Alinette Morse and her husband, Earnest “Sonny,” of Fort Fairfield, Mona Martin of Perth, New Brunswick, Claudette Johnston and her husband, Forest, of British Columbia, and Norma Dion of Fort Fairfield; two grandchildren, Jade and Joshua Larson, both of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Roland’s wishes, there will be no funeral services at this time. A graveside service of committal will be conducted later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Dion to C.A.N.C.E.R., P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Envelopes may be obtained though the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
