TRENTON – Donald Slater Pullen, 59, died Feb. 25, 2011, at a Bangor hospital, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born Sept. 9, 1951, in Bar Harbor, the son of John S. and Edna I. (Slater) Pullen.

He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, Class of 1970, where he played soccer and basketball, and of Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in carpentry. He owned his own business, Pullen Construction, and worked as a finish carpenter for many local contractors. He prided himself on his finish work and loved to make gifts for family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, playing cards and croquet, and was a lifelong member of Bayside Mallet Club.

Donald is survived by his wife, Jaye (Mace) Pullen; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Embleton and fiance, Michael Giosia, of Renton, Wash.; stepson, Robert Leighton and wife, Sarica, and children of Veazie; sisters, Lynne Carlisle of Brewer and Barbara J. Harmon and husband, Albert, of Hancock; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Robert Carlisle III.

Friends are invited to call noon-1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Spring interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
