MONTICELLO – Shirley Lynds Lenentine, 86, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Madigan House, Houlton. She was born May 25, 1924, in Monticello, the daughter of John and Zena (Lockard) Lynds.
Shirley attended Monticello schools and Ricker Classical Institute. She married Stuart Lenentine in July 1944, and they were married for 66 years. They enjoyed working together on their family farm for many years. Shirley enjoyed picking wild berries, working at harvest time and was known as one of those 100-barrel-a-day pickers. She made beautiful embroidery heirlooms, but her grandchildren think her best achievement was her homemade bread.
Shirley is survived by her four children, Sandra Roy and her husband, Thom, of Fremont, N.H., Wayne Lenentine and his wife, Jane, and Kim Lenentine and his fiancee, Gidget Noyes, all of Houlton, and Kevin Lenentine and his wife, Sherry, of Monticello; five special grandchildren, Zena Roy Bilavsky, Elka Roy, Lisa Lenentine Andersen, Rebecca Lenentine and Joshua Lenentine; one great-grandson, Keenan Roy Bilavsky; one much adored sister, Dorothy Lynds Hansen; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Stuart Lenentine, in February 2010.
Friends may call 11:30 a.m. until the time of service 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl DeMerchant officiating. Friends are invited to a time of fellowship after the funeral at Littleton Meduxnekeag Ramblers Clubhouse.
