LAMOINE and WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Janina “Jennie” Catherine Neleski, 102, died March 19, 2011, at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born Nov. 10, 1908, in South Deerfield, Mass., the daughter of Vincent and Elanora (Barchikowski) Wielgorecki.
Jennie’s life was devoted to her husband and large extended family, and she enjoyed their many gatherings. She was an avid gardener. Jennie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ellsworth.
She is survived by sons, Paul S. Neleski and wife, Ruth, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and William E. Neleski and wife, Enid, of Lamoine; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Neleski; grandchildren, Janina “Jina” Haslam, Steven Neleski and Elizabeth Neleski; brothers, Benjamin and Felix Wielgorecki and Vincent Wiel; and four sisters, Pauline Grabowski, Helen Jasiorkowski, Anna Allen and Florence Ciecierski.
Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower, celebrant.
