FRANKLIN – Royal Salisbury Keene, 82, died March 18, 2011, in Bar Harbor. He was born June 18, 1928, in Bar Harbor, son of Henry Otis and Addie (Salisbury) Keene.

Royal was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He married Juanita Farrell in 1954. Royal was a local school bus driver and in 1968 he and Juanita opened Royal Green Houses, Bar Harbor, which they ran together until retirement in 1989. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 25, Bar Harbor.

Royal is survived by his wife, Juanita; two sons, Alan Keene and wife, Patricia, and R. Christopher Keene and wife, Kimberly, all of Bar Harbor; two daughters, Jennie Keene of Bar Harbor and Brenda Power of West Virginia; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice MacDonald of Massachusetts and Mary Brown of Bar Harbor; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
