MAXFIELD – Dominick L. Molnar died peacefully March 22, 2011, with his daughter, Mary; and his wife, Krista, at his side. Dominick was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Bristol, Pa.
Dominick was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969. He was a talented drywall finisher for most of his life. In 1978 Dominick and Krista moved to Maine, fulfilling his longtime dream of owning land and building a home in Maine. Cutting and milling the lumber from their acreage, they built their home in Maxfield. Dominick was extremely proud of this accomplishment, and rightfully so, and Krista and Dominick felt very fortunate to have shared this dream together. An even greater blessing was the birth of their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, in 1985. Mary will always be her “daddy’s little girl,” and was the light of his life. He was extremely proud of Mary and her accomplishments, but most importantly he loved her more than life itself. We are all so thankful that Dominick was given the time to dance with Mary at her wedding and to meet and hold our first grandchild, Grayson Dominick, who was born December 2010. Grayson Dominick visited and snuggled his granddad just hours before his passing, and as always, brought a great big smile to his face, the circle complete. Though Dominick’s time with us was far too short, his impact on our lives was huge. He will stay with us forever through his funny expressions and great sense of humor and wit – which he kept until the very end – his gentle, kind soul and strong and honest character, his generosity and loyalty, but most of all through his undying love and genuine caring for us.
Dominick is survived by his loving daughter, Mary (Molnar) Brousseau and her husband, Sean; his beautiful grandson, Grayson Dominick; as well as his wife, Krista Molnar Smith and her husband, Owen Smith; and his dear dog, Nilly, all of Bangor. His best friend, Marie Dougherty; and longtime cherished friend, Slim Mucklow, are left behind in Pennsylvania. To say that we will all miss him is an understatement. Dominick also leaves behind his brothers and sisters and their extended families all in Pennsylvania: Robert Molnar, Frank Dea, Barbara Howell, Betty Peterson, Raymond Molnar and John Molnar. His parents, Dominick Dea and Helen Molnar; his brothers, Joe and Gene Molnar; his nephew, John Molnar; and his niece, Diane Molnar, predeceased him. Heartfelt thanks to Owen Smith for his love and support to Krista, Mary and Dominick throughout his illness, and our lives. You are one of a kind. We also thank everyone at the Veterans Administration and at Brewer Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility for their good care, love and kindness to Dominick, Mary and Krista. Most of all, thank you Dominick for all that you have given us. Sleep tight and maybe now you will finally catch that golden carp.
A burial will take place later in the spring at Maine Veterans Cemetery and announced at a later date. The family will celebrate Dominick’s life privately. Condolences to the family may be expressed at
