NEWPORT – Lorraine “Laurie” Brackett, 46, died unexpectedly March 29, 2011, in Palmyra. She was born Oct. 7, 1964, in South Boston, a daughter of Salvatore and Theresa (Bagtaz) Carapezza.

She was raised in Weymouth, Mass., before moving to Maine. Laurie was a loving mother and proud nana. She loved going for long motorcycle and snowmobile trips, as well as spending time with friends and family. She was a member of Sno-Devils Snowmobile Club. Laurie had a large heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Laurie is survived by her son, David and wife, Ruth Williams, of Eddington; daughters, Amanda Williams of Fort Carson, Colo., and Jessica and Emily Brackett, both of Eddington; granddaughter, Ella Williams of Eddington; sisters, Jeanette and husband, Michael Garnett, of Norton, Mass., Sally Carapezza of Brockton, Mass., Michelle Leonard, and Sheila and husband, Wes Menear, all of Weymouth, Mass.; brothers, Guy Carapezza, Jimbo and wife, Chrissy Leonard, and Michael and wife, Julie Leonard, all of Weymouth, Mass.; loving companion, Steve Tripodi of St. Albans; special friends, Dave and wife, Bonnie Godfrey, and Bonnie Page; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Doug Brackett.

Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, and 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at McDonald Funeral Home, 3 Charles St., East Weymouth, Mass., with a Rite of Christian burial celebrated 7:30 p.m. Laurie’s request was that everyone wear yellow at her visitation.
