INVERNESS, Fla. – Nancy “Sally” Shaw Desjardins, who was born Dec. 14, 1949, in Bangor, passed away unexpectedly April 15, 2011, at her home.

Nancy graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in 1967, and attended post-graduate school in Connecticut. She moved to South Florida in the early 1970s and spent many happy years in the Florida Keys before settling in Inverness, Fla. She volunteered at many organizations throughout the years, never hesitating to reach out to help others.

Nancy was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Boyle Shaw; father, Lawrence E. Shaw; and beloved niece, Katherine “Katie” Shaw. She loved her brothers and sadly leaves behind brothers, Michael Shaw and his partner, Laurette Bernier, of Arundel; Chris and wife, Beth, and their sons, Benjamin and Jonathan Shaw, of Falmouth; Joe and wife, Denise, and son, Matthew Shaw, of Bangor; and Tom and wife, Kim, and sons, Travis and Gary Shaw, of Bradley. She is also survived by her Aunt Rosie and Uncle Bill Ford of Bangor, whom she loved dearly; and stepmother, Hilda Ryder-Shaw. She also will be greatly missed by her Florida extended family: Jan Belland, Richard McGarry, Vicki Riley Fisher; and Jake, her faithful dog.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Those wishing to remember Nancy in a special way may make a donation to Bangor Humane Society or your local animal rescue shelter.
