SOUTHBURY, Conn. – Mrs. Joan F. Ouellette, 83, died unexpectedly May 2, 2011. She was the wife of 64 years of Donald F. Ouellette, who is residing at Lutheran Home of Southbury. Joan was born May 28, 1927, in Old Town, daughter of Clifford and Georgianna (Gifford) Duplissa.
She was born and lived for 75 years in the Great Works section of Old Town, attended Old Town schools, and was a cheerleader and graduate of Old Town High School. She moved to Heritage Village, Southbury, Conn., in 2002, and resided at Lutheran Home of Southbury for the last two years. Joan was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church, now Holy Family Parish, Old Town, and more recently of St. Teresa of Avila Church, Woodbury, Conn. She was employed by the University of Maine where she worked for more than 25 years in the Bear’s Den, where she loved all the students, faculty and staff and they loved her.
In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by two daughters, Catherine Lacadie and her husband, John, of Woodbury, Conn., and Betsey Young of Bangor; three grandchildren, Christopher Lacadie, Scott Lacadie and Lindsay Young Eouse; and three great-grandchildren, Katherine, Matthew and Sophia. Joan will also be missed by her brother-in-law, Bill Rogers of New Hampshire; and Donald’s brothers and sisters-in-law, Raynard and Lois Ouellette of Florida and Norman and Lois Ouellette of Florida and Connecticut. She was “Aunt Jo” to 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Jean Burke and her husband, Pat; and by her sister, Geraldine Rogers. The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff of Lutheran Home of Southbury for their kind, caring treatment of Joan and Donald.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at an unspecified time in Old Town. Arrangements are being provided by Birmingham Funeral Home, Old Town, and Sagarino Memorial Funeral Home, New Britain, Conn.
