MEDWAY – Robert H. “Bubba” Cox Sr., 66, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at home after a long battle with lung disease. He was born June 21, 1944, in Millinocket, the son of Vinal G. and Clara L. (Stanley) Cox.
Bubba was a graduate of Schenck High School, Class of 1964. He served in the Army National Guard for six years, and worked at Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, for 43 years, retiring in 2005. Bubba loved fishing, hunting and spending time at camp, but most loved spending time with his family. His greatest catch – other than his wife, Pat – was a monster togue, 18 1/2 pounds, he caught at Schoodic Lake with his son, Jerry; brother, Bruce; and two grandsons, JJ and Josh. Bubba will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grand-father, brother and friend.
In addition to his mother, Clara L. Cox of Medway, Bubba is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patty (LeBlond) Cox of Medway; three children, Robbie Cox Jr. and his wife, Nicole, of Medway, Jerry Cox and his wife, Kim, of Millinocket, and Ann Marie Sutherland and her husband, Kevin, of Mattamiscontis; nine grandchildren, Alan, Sissy, Joshua, Travis, Trevor, JJ, Becca, Nick and Tim; two brothers, Vinal Cox and his wife, Sue, of East Millinocket, and Bruce Cox and his wife, Becky, of Medway; two sisters, Bernie Pray of Medway, and Marcia Berube and her husband, Ralph, of Millinocket; two sisters-in-law, Irma Hanington of Lincoln, and Theresa Card and her husband, Russ, of Millinocket; a brother-in-law, Donald LeBlond and his wife, Julie, of Bethlehem, Pa.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bubba will also be missed by special friends, Mike and Marlene Stanley of Medway. He was predeceased by his father; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Gerald LeBlond.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 2 Orchard St., East Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, with the Rev. Regginal Adams, pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway.
